Why Evergreen Early Years

Evergreen Early Years at Queen’s Drive embraces childhood as a magical time.  The nursery is designed to feel like a home away from home for children and their families and is a place where parents can feel confident that their children are receiving the very best care and education.

Evergreen Early Years strives for excellence in its approach to education which influences the Children’s daily life and prepares them for school.

Our Facilities

The nursery consists of two playrooms and an outdoor area, where activities and a wide variety of resources are available for children to access throughout the day. The layout of the nursery enables children to move freely between indoors and outdoors and explore their natural surroundings throughout the day.

Staff use their expertise to enhance the provision daily. This reflects each child’s interest and abilities.

Indoors and Outdoors

The nursery consists of two playrooms where activities and a wide variety of resources are available for children to access throughout the day. There is a raised area that is laid with synthetic grass and this is an extension of the playrooms.

There is a main outdoor area that is fully secure and offers children the opportunity to explore in a natural environment. The outdoor environment lends itself to offering challenge, helping children learn how to be safe and to be aware of others, and to develop their gross motor skills.

What The Parents Say

Your Children

There are seven areas of learning and development that must shape educational programmes in early years settings. All areas of learning and development are important and inter-connected.

  • Communication and language
  • Physical development
  • Personal, social and emotional development
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the world
  • Expressive arts and design

Safety

Evergreen Early Years follows the Early Years Statutory Framework. This consists of welfare requirements and ensure the safeguarding of every child as a priority. Safe recruitment and selection procedures are followed for all recruitment. Our staff are recruited with particular care and attention: references are fully investigated, and every member of staff undergoes clearance through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Learning

Characteristics of Learning focus on how children learn, as they develop their knowledge in the Areas of Learning. The three characteristics of effective teaching and learning are:

  • Playing and exploring – children investigate and experience things, and ‘have a go’;
  • Active learning – children concentrate and keep on trying if they encounter difficulties, and enjoy achievements; and
  • Creating and thinking critically – children have and develop their own ideas, make links between ideas, and develop strategies for doing things.

Development

At Evergreen Early Years we follow the four guiding principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage…

  • Every child is a unique child, who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured;
  • children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships;
  • Children learn and develop well in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to their individual needs and there is a strong partnership between practitioners and parents and/or carers; and
  • Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates.
